Abstract

The intestinal microbiota plays a decisive role in intestinal homeostasis, and its imbalance is considered a determining factor in the pathogenesis of intestinal and systemic diseases. Likewise, the arguments for the modulation of the microbiota and the foundations for the use of the so-called Next Generation Probiotics are updated. They are an expression of the new knowledge achieved in recent years, with multi-omic methods for diagnosis and therapy of the aforementioned diseases. The promising biotherapeutic strategies proposed with the use of New Generation Probiotics for diseases related to dysbiosis are reviewed.
