Introduction: Asthma is a chronic disease of the distal airways, which represents a global health problem. Its difficult diagnosis in early childhood has stimulated the development of predictive indices of asthma in different contexts. Objectives: To expose some
aspects of asthma in children in early childhood, their current status and the different predictive indexes that exist, their practical utility. Method: An updated bibliographic review of the subject was made. Theoretical methods were used for its elaboration. Results: The results of investigations carried out where the Asthma Predictive Index were used, demonstrating its practical utility, but in turn, the need to adjust it is highlighted, depending on the factors that affect each geographical area. Conclusions: Despite the scientific advances in the knowledge of asthma and the clinical utility of the Asthma Predictive Index, further research are needed in this regard.
